Internal Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The The primary function of the Internal Biosafety Committee (IBC) is to act on the evaluation and management of risks of research projects developed at Sírio-Libanês Teaching and Research that use biological agents and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

The Sírio-Libanês Teaching and Research operates as a single operational unit, which has 9 multidisciplinary laboratories, and three of these laboratories were accredited by our IBC for the handling of GMOs (CQB n° 326/10, Process n° 01200.000519/2011-65).

The researchers, collaborators and students of the Institution are informed on the biosafety standards for the handling of GMOs through lectures and training and have access to the biosafety manual. We conduct experimental activities involving Group I GMOs (human and animal cell lines) in NB-1 laboratories.

 The CIBio is composed by:

Dra. Rosana de Lima Pagano (President)
Dra. Fabiana Bettoni (Specialist Member)
Dr. Érico Tosoni Costa (Specialist Member)
Dra. Lilian Tiemi Inoue (Specialist Member)

AVAP-NG

O AVAP-NG (https://avapng.iephsl.org.bris the Hospital Sírio-Libanês platform designed to manage the submission and review flow for all research initiatives, including Clinical Case Reports, conducted at our institution. This platform also manages the scientific publication metrics of Hospital Sírio-Libanês, and it is through this platform that researchers can request the different forms of Institutional Research Incentive.

Through AVAP-NG, the Hospital Sírio-Libanês researcher will be able to:

  • Register and submit your research initiative for review and approval by the Hospital Sírio-Libanês Research Directorate.
  • Check the review and approval status and the evaluation history of the research projects in which the researcher is participating.
  • Request the different forms of Institutional Research Incentive. Please note that the granting of various types of Institutional Research Incentive is contingent on the submission and approval of the corresponding research project on AVAP-NG.
  • View the scientific publication metrics of Hospital Sírio-Libanês and search for your scientific publications associated with Hospital Sírio-Libanês.
  • Request new projects. REDCap .

The **AVAP-NG** platform can be accessed from any computer with internet access. It is not necessary to be on the Hospital Sírio-Libanês internal network. If a researcher does not yet have an AVAP-NG account, they can create one on the platform's home page.

For more information about AVAP-NG, please contact the team at the Researcher Support Center (CAP) by e-mail apoioaopesquisador@hsl.org.br, by phone at (11) 3394-4497 or use the communication channel Contact us about AVAP-NG.

REDCap

The REDCap platform was created in 2004 at Vanderbilt University and made available free of charge by the REDCap Consortium for non-profit institutions. REDCap is a powerful and secure platform for data collection and management in research. Being a versatile platform, it can also be used to implement various operational support applications, both for scientific research and other uses. In 2011, Hospital Sírio-Libanês, along with Hospital das Clínicas of the University of São Paulo's School of Medicine (HCFMUSP), became a pioneer in the use of the REDCap platform in South America.

Hospital Sírio-Libanês's REDCap (https://redcap.iephsl.org.bris managed by the Research Directorate of this institution. The Hospital Sírio-Libanês REDCap Team manages the platform, including user creation and access control, the creation of new projects, the implementation of new REDCap projects of institutional relevance, and maintenance and services for REDCap projects in production. The Sírio-Libanês REDCap Team has amassed extensive experience in using this platform, making it one of the leading REDCap teams in Brazil.

Relevant information about the Hospital Sírio-Libanês REDCap:

  • The creation of new REDCap projects can be requested through the platform AVAP-NG .
  • REDCap projects can be developed by the users themselves, or this development can be requested from the Sírio-Libanês REDCap Team. Projects requested from the Hospital Sírio-Libanês REDCap Team will be analyzed and prioritized according to the project's institutional relevance and impact, the suitability of using REDCap, development complexity, the quality of the project specification, the detailing of the data collection process, and the Sírio-Libanês REDCap Team's availability to develop new projects.
