Research Laboratories
As part of a strategic decision, HSL created an integrated research laboratory infrastructure that is both multidisciplinary and multi-user. This approach prevents equipment duplication, optimizes space and the use of maintenance resources, and promotes a collaborative and integrated research atmosphere. The laboratories are equipped to execute research protocols with quality, safety, and efficiency.
The laboratories are available to all students and researchers at the institution and are used to develop research projects in all of our areas of focus. The labs also serve students and researchers from national and international universities and research centers, as well as meeting the needs of other areas within the Institution, including the Sírio-Libanês College.
There are a total of 5 laboratories, which together occupy approximately 600 square meters.
-
Laboratory of Genomics Applied to Health (LGAS)
-
- The main focus of LGAS is the identification of genetic and epigenetic changes associated with molecular mechanisms of response, primary and acquired resistance to cancer treatment. It also focuses on detecting molecular biomarkers to define diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic management for chronic, infectious, and degenerative diseases.
-
Laboratory of Bioinformatics Applied to Health (LBAS)
-
- The LBAS is dedicated to unraveling biological complexities through genomic and transcriptomic analysis, applying innovative computational approaches to understand the molecular basis of different pathologies.
-
Laboratory of Cell Biology Applied to Health (LBCAS)
-
- The LBCAS focuses on developing studies that aim to understand the functional effects of genetic and epigenetic changes in the pathophysiology of chronic and degenerative diseases. It also works to establish patient-specific platforms for assessing sensitivity to different drugs.
-
Laboratory of Immunology Applied to Health (LIAS)
-
- The LIAS aims to uncover the role of the immune system and the inflammatory response in critically ill patients and those with chronic and degenerative diseases. This enables the development of new diagnostic and treatment methods for such pathologies.
-
Laboratório de Experimentação Animal Aplicada à Saúde (LEAAS)
-
- The LEAAS explores the pathophysiological mechanisms associated with infectious, chronic, and neurodegenerative diseases using experimental models with rodents and swine. It also focuses on developing and improving innovative techniques that can guide therapeutic interventions to be more effective, less invasive, and less debilitating for patients.
