The Program
The Post-Doctoral Program in Health Sciences was created in 2021 and is part of the pathway for training new researchers at Hospital Sírio-Libanês. The program is free and intended for researchers with a doctoral degree obtained from a graduate program recognized by CAPES. The program's objective is to train and enhance the skills of young PhDs to pursue an academic and scientific career and to promote improvements in medical care in general. We conduct research in three major areas of concentration: applied research in surgery and regenerative medicine, applied research in intensive care medicine and rehabilitation, and applied research in oncology.
The program has a minimum duration of 24 months and a maximum of 48 months. It consists of developing a research project supervised by a researcher with an established research track and experience in human resource training. The research project must be original, internationally competitive, and contribute significantly to the advancement of knowledge in the health field. At the end of the program, the Post-Doctoral fellow is responsible for submitting a final activity report, which must include published or submitted articles in indexed journals that are closely related to the developed research project. The report must be submitted to the CPG for evaluation and approval. After the final report is approved, the CPG will issue a certificate of completion for the program through its academic management system. Also, after the report's approval, the results of the research project must be presented at a scientific meeting organized by the Graduate Commission. The program's strengths include interdisciplinarity, the availability of a complete infrastructure, exposure to a care environment, and the opportunity to interact with highly qualified professionals.

Admission Process:
To join the Program, candidates must identify their area of interest, find a faculty member who works in that area, and check their availability to supervise the development of a research project. Admission to the Program is on a rolling basis, pending approval in a selection process conducted by the future supervisor and validated by the Coordination of the Hospital Sírio-Libanês' Stricto Sensu Graduate Program. At the time of admission, candidates must submit an acceptance letter from the supervisor, a research project proposal, and personal documents to the Academic Secretariat of the Sírio-Libanês Institute for Education and Research.
Scholarships:
The Academic Post-Doctoral program can be undertaken on a voluntary basis, without receiving a research scholarship. However, there are several scholarship options offered by different sources. The institution currently has two Post-Doctoral scholarships granted by CAPES. Calls for scholarship selection are opened at the beginning of each academic semester, depending on the number of available scholarships. In addition, the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) reviews applications for Post-Doctoral scholarships on a rolling basis, and the post-doctoral fellow and their supervisor can submit the scholarship application directly through FAPESP's SAGE system.
